Chemtex Partners with FMC Foret for Specialized Water Treatment Technology

WILMINGTON, NC, USA – March      01, 2010: Chemtex and FMC Foret have entered into a Cooperation Agreement for the supply of Wet Peroxide Oxidation Technology in Italy, China, India, Taiwan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.  Under this agreement, Chemtex will have the exclusive rights to market and deliver project solutions for clients in the above countries using FMC Foret’s OHP® Technology and know-how.

FMC Foret developed OHP® Technology to provide an ideal solution for the effective treatment of effluents with complex organic contaminants with low biodegradability or that are toxic, at a competitive cost.  OHP® Technology is based on an advanced oxidation process developed specifically to treat industrial effluents with low biodegradability.  OHP® can be used as a single treatment to eliminate COD or as a complement to other treatment processes for increasing the biodegradability of the effluent.  OHP® removes COD and TOC to achieve compliance with the admissible limits and eliminates colour and destroys toxic elements that could affect biological treatment plants.
OHP® can be used to treat a number of waste water streams including effluents from the refining, petrochemical, specialty chemicals and pharmaceutical industries.  It can be used for the treatment of lixiviates from sanitary landfills with refractory components.  With more than twenty units installed in the market, this technology is included in the latest European Commission’s BREF Review for the Treatment of Waste Water as the Best Available Technology (BAT).

As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental protection, Chemtex is “excited about expanding our technology base in the waste water treatment sector and is delighted that FMC Foret has chosen Chemtex as partner of choice to deliver their proven technology into the international marketplace,” said Guido Ghisolfi President and CEO of Chemtex.
