New natural gas facility by Black & Veatch & Chemtex powers growing Chengdu economy
Success for Dazhou Huixin Energy Co. Ltd., as liquefied natural gas facility reaches full capacity in only four days
Chengdu, Sichuan Province, P.R. China (21 July 2010) – The Dazhou liquefied natural gas facility, which features Black & Veatch’s patented PRICO® refrigeration process, recently achieved full capacity operation just four days after initial start up began. Similar plants, using other refrigeration processes, can take several weeks – or even up to a year – before capacity operations are achieved.
The plant is located near the city of Chengdu and is now helping the Dazhou Huixin Energy Co. Ltd., power continued industrial growth in the region of more than 8 million people.
“Selecting the Black & Veatch – Chemtex team is equivalent to selecting success. PRICO is the best suitable LNG technology for China,” said Mr. Wu le Xian, CEO of Dazhou Huixin Energy Co. and Erdos Xingxing Energy Co.
Natural gas from the Dazhou facility will be shipped via tanker trunk to local distribution points to be vaporized and used as fuel for residential heating, business, power plants and transportation.
Dazhou is the third Black & Veatch-Chemtex facility to begin commercial operation in China since 2008, and a duplicate design of the Erdos Xingxing Energy Source Co. plant that began commercial operation in 2008 for the same client group.
